Here are my favorite gifts to give my super active boys! Even if you don’t have boys, any curious kid would love to spend some time doing these! These Christmas gifts for kids are simple and have directions they can follow independently. Here’s a holiday gift guide for activities you can give your kids for Christmas to keep their hands and minds occupied!
Christmas Gifts for Active and Curious Kids
National Geographic is KILLING it with their kits. I think my kids would be ecstatic to have all of them! We have several of their science experiment kits. This science kit for kids has great instructions so the kids can do most of the experiment themselves! We made a designated science experiment area that stayed ready to go for several months. Every time we pull it out they get excited. I promise it does not disappoint! This Christmas gift for active kids will keep their brains going during the break!

This science kit is full of geodes that are pretty easy to crack. Follow the instructions to avoid shattering the rocks instead of cracking them down the middle! Most of the geodes on the inside are a beautiful white quartz. If you get really lucky you could get one of the colored ones, just be prepared for most of them to look the same. These were a huge hit!
The boys split them up and waited for a specific day and split open their geodes. They made them last several months. I was very impressed with their patience! They would gently use a hammer to try and get the middle to split open evenly. If they struggled, they put them in a sock and hit the rocks through the sock so they didn’t lose any pieces.

National Geographic really is the best! I can’t believe how many kits they have for holiday gifts for kids! They have them all the time, but Christmas is the perfect reason to spoil your kids with a fun activity! This terrarium kit would be easy for them to put together themselves. It’s got enough steps to keep them occupied for a while and they can make their little world inside! They will turn on their creativity and have something to be proud of!
You won’t have a ton of instructions to navigate through to help them either. This is a self directed activity for them to enjoy all year long!

This is something we are going to get the boys! (Surprise Jamison!) A fidget that actually spins, moves, and comes apart. What more could a busy mind want? Oh wait, how about having it glow in the dark? Don’t worry, it does that too! 🙂 There’s something magic about building and having moving parts that they get to decide the shape of!

We got these maybe three years ago for Christmas from grandma. We thought they were cool for the boys. It ended up turning into a fidget for the whole family. We sat around a table and all the adults played with these for hours! You can turn them into such cool shapes. We used it as a game and challenged the others to match our shape. Who could do it the fastest? We also saw that you can combine two of them together and still be able to move it around. They are really fun!

Andrew literally hides his RC car from Aiden so he is the only one who gets to play with it! It works so well, it flips over, and you can keep driving it. I love how fun they are, it just stinks that the fun lasts as long as the battery.

Marble runs also get taken over by adults. I mean, we know how to make them better, right? The kids can create fun trails for the marbles to run down. It’s mesmerizing to their little hands and ears to pour the marbles down over and over and over.

I may have put this on for my kids but really I want it! Any time we pull out the watercolors the boys go crazy. It’s amazing how a brush can literally be the path to ANYTHING. You never know what they are going to paint or think of. Just give them tools and space to let them invite you to their world.

My youngest goes crazy for these. We have a couple versions to try bigger circuits and see how more switches or stops affect them. They have great instructions for how to put the circuits together in the box. They are easy enough that kids who are good readers can follow them. The pictures are great too.

We are entering the stage of life where they want to create, decorate, and fill their own bedrooms! Maybe your kids have been there for a while, but this is a gift that works with all ages. These lights would brighten or bring the right mood to any room!

BONUS!!!
In our home we typically do boring stocking stuffers. Every year our stockings consist of:
- Socks
- Candy in a candy cane
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Orange
- Fidget toy
- Little jar of nutella
A friend said she puts underwear in there too. I’m not going to link to that for you 😉 But here’s a couple ideas that I am using/have used as gifts for my kids!
*** Kanoodle Stocking Stuffer
These puzzles are definitely an exercise for your brain! There are a couple ways to do it and the instructions give challenges to work through and the answers to the puzzle! We used these on a road trip and they were perfect. They took enough time to be challenging and still feel accomplished at the end!

*** Fidget Toy Stress Cube 3 Pack
These small squishy cubes are quiet! Any time you need a quiet child, give them a squishy. They have to be moving in some way and these don’t make noise on anything. They also feel great!

*** ANTSANG Kids Toddlers Boys Girls Merino Wool Hiking Athletic Thermal Warm Winter Socks
We’re putting these socks in stockings this year because when we went camping they stole my socks!!! I want them back so they are getting their own wool hiking socks. Whether you’re going camping, hiking, snowboarding, or are a freezing cold human, these socks will protect you from the cold and yourself. Moisture wicking means that sweat won’t stay close to the skin and keep your temperature regulated.

I have been thinking about these gifts for a while! I hope you like them and can use them for your holidays this year!
MERRY CHRISTMAS… almost!
